ST. LOUIS -- Could the Cubs have a Gretzky on the roster?
Wayne Gretzky's son Trevor will work out in Arizona for Cubs scouts on Saturday in advance of the First-Year Player Draft on Monday.
During an interview Friday on a radio station, Wayne said his son would work out for the Cubs as well as the Dodgers prior to next week's Draft. Trevor batted .341 with two home runs and 33 RBIs his junior year at Westlake Village Oaks Christian High School (Calif.). He suffered a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder in the third game in September and was limited to DH duties his senior year. Last October, he signed a letter of intent to play college baseball at San Diego State.
"To be drafted is one of my dreams since I saw my dad holding up jerseys when he was traded," Trevor said in February when he took part in a scouting combine. "To be in a moment like that would be amazing."
