ATLANTA -- A pair of the Padres' top center field prospects will be among seven players in the organization taking part in the 2016 edition of the Arizona Fall League.
Michael Gettys, Franchy Cordero, Brad Wieck, Josh VanMeter, Kyle McGrath, Phil Maton and Jason Jester were all named to the Peoria Javelinas roster. The AFL season -- which gives the game's top prospects a chance to develop and compete against each other -- will begin in October and runs through mid-November.
Gettys is the Padres' highest rated prospect to be taking part in the AFL this season. He's currently ranked by MLBPipeline as the organization's No. 10 prospect and is batting .306/.356/.468 in 60 games for Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore.

One level above Gettys is Cordero, a .303/.354/.477 hitter while playing center field for Double-A San Antonio.
Other than Gettys, Maton is the only Padres prospect currently ranked in the club's top 30 by MLBPipeline. The 23-year-old righty reliever is ranked 30th in the system and sports a 1.60 ERA among three levels this year. He recorded his first save for Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.
The righty Jester (3.27 ERA, 1.28 WHIP at Double- and Triple-A) and lefties McGrath (0.98 ERA, 0.75 WHIP at Class A Advanced and Double-A) and Wieck (1.54 ERA, 1.13 WHIP at Class A Advanced and Double-A) will join Maton in the bullpen.
VanMeter -- a 21-year-old middle infielder -- is the only infielder the Padres are sending to the AFL. He batted .267/.355/.443 in 95 games for Lake Elsinore, but has struggled a bit since being called up to San Antonio.
