Barney leaves Blue Jays for personal reasons

BALTIMORE -- Darwin Barney is leaving the Blue Jays "for some personal business," manager John Gibbons said after Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles, and Ryan Goins will be joining the club from Triple-A Buffalo. It's undetermined how much time Barney will miss or what move the club will make to get Goins on the 25-man roster.

Goins was pulled from Buffalo's game Tuesday in the top of the sixth. He's played 63 games for Toronto this season, batting .186 with three homers and 12 RBIs. He was optioned to the Bisons on Thursday.

Barney, who singled as a pinch-hitter in the ninth Tuesday, is hitting .271 in 90 games with the Blue Jays this season.
