Blue Jays acquire Navarro

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired C DIONER NAVARRO from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for LHP COLTON TURNER.

NAVARRO, 32, returns to the Blue Jays after signing with the White Sox in the off-season. The Caracas, Venezuela native has posted a .210 average with six home runs and 32 RBI in 85 games in 2016. In two seasons (2014-15) with Toronto, Navarro recorded a .267 average with 17 home runs and 89 RBI over 193 games, including a career-high 34 extra base hits in 2014. The switch-hitter is a veteran of 13 Major League seasons having played with the Yankees, Dodgers, Rays, Reds, Cubs, Blue Jays & White Sox.

TURNER, 25, is 3-1 with a 1.33 ERA in 44 relief appearances for Lansing (A-), Dunedin (A+) and New Hampshire (AA) this season. Over four minor league seasons, the 2012, 21st round pick has posted a 12-9 record with a 2.76 ERA in 106 games (16 starts).
