Astros Upcoming Homestand to Feature Fan-Favorite Events and Special Giveaways as Pennant Race Continues

Astros to host Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland A's for six-game homestand

The red-hot Astros, winners of five of their last six games, continue their hunt for a playoff spot tonight with the start of a six-game homestand. Houston will host the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game set, August 26-28, followed by a three-game matchup against the AL West rival Oakland A's, August 29-31. The Astros are coming off of a successful 5-2 road trip and hope to keep the positive momentum going at home. Houston is 34-28 at Minute Maid Park this season.

Friday, August 26 - 7:10 p.m. vs. Tampa Bay

Astros four-time All-Star Jose Altuve has been having an MVP-caliber season in 2016, highlighted by his 1,000th career hit on August 16. Altuve became the quickest player in franchise history to 1,000 hits and the second-quickest among all active Major League players. In honor of the milestone, 27,000 Astros fans will receive a Jose Altuve 1,000 Hits Poster, presented by Citgo, prior to Friday's 7:10 p.m. contest. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early to receive this weekend's promotional giveaways, as supplies are limited and not guaranteed.

 

Big and Bright Friday Night fireworks return postgame, featuring a 2016 chart toppers musical theme. Fireworks will begin approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of Friday's game vs. the Rays.

 

The Long Haul Bombers are back at Minute Maid Park this Friday! Prior to the fireworks display, the Long Haul Bombers will take the field for an impressive Home Run Derby as part of their Stadium Power Tour.

 

Continuing this Friday, the Astros Foundation will be raffling off a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, donated by Crane Freight Services. Proceeds will benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance, Ronald McDonald House Houston and the Astros Foundation. Tickets will now be sold during every home game through September 11 on the main concourse behind home plate. Tickets are one (1) for $20 or six (6) for $100. The winner will be announced at the game on Monday, September 12 vs. the Texas Rangers (winner does not need to be present to win).

 

Saturday, August 27 - 6:10 p.m. vs. Tampa Bay

Prior to Saturday's 6:10 p.m. contest, 10,000 fans will receive a Jose Altuve Gold Glove/Silver Slugger Bobblehead, presented by Coca-Cola. Saturday's giveaway is the third and final of the 2016 Award Series Bobbleheads, which celebrates the first time in franchise history that the Astros boasted a Cy Young Award winner, Rookie of the Year, two Gold Glove recipients and a Silver Slugger in a single season (2015).

 

Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick will be in the Astros Team Store prior to Saturday's game signing autographs and interacting with fans from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Autographs are FREE to the public. Player is subject to change and autographs are available on a first come first served basis.

 

The Houston Astros are hosting families from the Sunshine Kids for their second meet and greet of the season with Astros players and coaches. The meet and greet will be held in the press conference room following Astros batting practice.

 

The Astros will also be hosting the ALS Association Texas Chapter as part of 4-ALS, a Major League Baseball initiative that raises awareness and support for the fight against ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Several local ALS patients will be honored during an on-field pregame ceremony prior to Saturday's game vs. the Rays.

 

Keuchel's Korner, presented by Houston Methodist, is back on Saturday as Dallas Keuchel takes on the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:10 p.m. Tickets for the dedicated fan section, located in sections 105 and 106, include a signature Dallas Keuchel beard giveaway and an exclusive Keuchel's Korner T-shirt. Sunday, August 28 - 1:10 p.m. vs. Tampa Bay

Fans can take in a ballgame with their favorite furry friends during Bark at the Park, presented by Avoderm, Nylabone and PetSmart, this Sunday, August 28! The sold-out event will feature a Pooch Parade, the Bark at the Park Vendor Alley and a costume contest. All dogs participating in Bark at the Park will receive an Astros Bark at the Park dog leash. The Astros host the AL West rival Oakland Athletics for the penultimate time this season. The Astros currently hold a 7-5 series lead on the A's going into Monday's contest.

 

Tuesday, August 30 - 7:10 p.m. vs. Oakland

The Houston Astros will host members of the Wounded Warrior Project during its annual "Astros Salute to Heroes" at Minute Maid Park. The Houston Astros host members from the Wounded Warrior Project twice a month during the season.
