Benintendi, 22, has hit .324 (22-for-68) with an .850 OPS, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 10 RBI, and 11 runs scored in 21 games (19 starts) since being selected to the major league roster on August 2. The left-handed hitter has played in 151 minor league games over two professional seasons, batting .312 (178-for-570) with a .910 OPS, 74 walks, and 63 strikeouts. A native of Cincinnati, OH, he has combined to hit .312 (116-for-372) with 70 runs, 31 doubles, nine home runs, and 16 stolen bases this season between High-A Salem (34 games) and Double-A Portland (63 games), also playing for Team USA in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game in San Diego. The seventh overall pick of the 2015 June Draft, Benintendi was named the No. 9 prospect on this year's Baseball America Midseason Top 100 list.
Hernandez, 23, has hit .295 (13-for-44) with one double, one home run, five RBI, seven runs scored, and one stolen base in 29 games over four major league stints this season, all with Boston. Acquired from the Chicago Cubs in 2014 in exchange for Felix Doubront, the switch-hitting infielder has spent the majority of the year with Pawtucket, batting .309 (69-for-223) with 26 runs, seven doubles, four triples, five home runs, 29 RBI, and four stolen bases in 57 games at four different defensive positions. Since signing with Chicago as an amateur free agent in 2009, the Dominican native has hit .283 (688-for-2,435) over 634 minor league games, tallying 316 runs, 118 doubles, 33 triples, 31 home runs, 284 RBI, and 93 stolen bases.
