Pipeline preview: Richmond's Beede seeks fifth straight quality start

Pipeline preview: Richmond's Beede seeks fifth straight quality start

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in Tuesday's Minor League action:

Hitter to watch: Austin Riley (Braves' No. 13), Rome vs. Kannapolis (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)

Riley homered for a second straight game for Class A Rome on Monday, his 17th of the season. With seven home runs and 18 RBIs since the beginning of August, the 19-year-old third baseman is enjoying his best month of the season in the South Atlantic League. Riley's power has been on display in the second half, during which he's connected on 14 home runs in 54 games.

Top Prospects: Riley, ATL

Pitcher to watch: Tyler Beede (Giants' No. 2), Richmond at Erie (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)

Beede has been on a role of late for Double-A Richmond, posting a 1.07 ERA over his last four starts. He's recorded 32 strikeouts with 14 hits allowed in that span. After struggling during his first tour of the Eastern League in 2015, Beede, 23, has been one of the circuit's top hurlers this season, ranking third both in ERA (2.91) and strikeouts (116).

Top Prospects: Beede, SF

Duel of the day: Carson Fulmer (White Sox No. 1) vs. Jacob Faria (Rays' No. 5), Charlotte vs. Durham (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)

Fulmer, No. 64 on the Top 100, is set to make his second start for Triple-A Charlotte since returning from a stint with the White Sox in the Major Leagues. The 2015 first-rounder was chased from his Knights debut last week after a disastrous first inning in which he surrendered six earned runs on five hits and two walks. During his time with the White Sox, Fulmer, 22, posted an 8.49 ERA across eight relief appearances, with 10 strikeouts and seven walks in 11 2/3 innings.

Top Prospects: Fulmer, CWS

Faria's most recent start was arguably his best since he was promoted to Triple-A Durham, as he yielded two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings against Colorado Springs on Aug. 17. More importantly, the 23-year-old righty did not issue a walk for the first time in 10 starts for the Bulls. He has a 4.06 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 51 innings for Durham.

Top Prospects: Faria, TB
