15 First Nations to compete in 2nd annual 'Beyond the Ballpark' tournament

On SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2016, JAYS CARE FOUNDATION, in partnership with RIGHT TO PLAY, THE ONTARIO MINISTRY OF CHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES and the KENORA CHIEFS ADVISORY, will host the second annual "Beyond The Ballpark" tournament for more than 15 participating Ontario and Manitoba First Nations.

Approximately 100 youth participants from 15 First Nations will congregate at Camp Manitou and the John Blumberg Sportsplex, outside of Winnipeg, MB, to participate in a two-day tournament that includes baseball and a wealth of other physical and play-based activities.

Participating First Nations, which are partner communities of Right To Play's Promoting Life-skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program and the Kenora Chiefs Advisory, have successfully completed seven weeks of Rookie League programming, Jays Care's signature baseball for development program.

Immediately preceding the tournament's opening ceremonies, Jays Care Foundation will announce a significant investment in the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council.
