Owens, 24, has made three major league starts this season, posting a 5.11 ERA (7 ER/12.1 IP) with no decisions in three Boston victories. The left-hander is also 8-6 with a 3.70 ERA (49 ER/119.1 IP) and a .219 opponent batting average in 21 starts with the PawSox, striking out 116 batters and walking 74. In three August starts for Pawtucket, he is 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA (2 ER/18.0 IP) and 20 strikeouts, most recently earning the win on August 15 at Lehigh Valley after surrendering only one run in 7.0 innings with six strikeouts and one walk. Selected by the Red Sox in the first round of the 2011 June Draft, Owens is 4-4 with a 4.66 ERA (39 ER/75.1 IP) and 59 strikeouts in 14 starts over two major league stints, and 51-30 with a 3.38 ERA (239 ER/637.1 IP) and 688 strikeouts in 117 minor league games (116 starts).
Marrero, 25, has appeared in six games and made two starts over a pair of stints with the Red Sox this season, recording one hit in nine at-bats. The right-handed infielder has also played 87 games with Pawtucket this year, appearing at shortstop (83 games), second base (two games), and third base (two games) while hitting .196 (65-for-331) with 28 runs, 10 doubles, one triple, one home run, 26 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. In five minor league seasons since being selected by Boston in the first round of the 2012 June Draft (24th overall), Marrero has hit .246 (446-for-1,810) with 244 runs, 87 doubles, seven triples, 17 home runs, 164 RBI, and 89 stolen bases in 475 games. In 31 major league games since making his debut in 2015, he has gone 13-for-62 (.210) with eight runs, one home run, three RBI and two stolen bases.
