The injury that landed Javier Guerra on the disabled list at Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore triggered a wave of shortstop promotions in the Padres' system Friday.

Ruddy Giron, 19, was promoted from Single-A Fort Wayne to Lake Elsinore. Chris Baker, 21, moved from short-season Class A Tri-City to Fort Wayne. Seventeen-year-olds Hudson Potts and Fernando Tatis Jr. were promoted from the Arizona Rookie League to Tri-City. And Eguy Rosario is coming from the Dominican Republic to join the Arizona Rookie Padres a week before his 17th birthday.

Meanwhile, left fielder Gabriel Quintana hit two homers and right fielder Nick Schulz added a three-run homer Friday night as Double-A San Antonio scored a 5-4 win at Northwest Arkansas.

Quintana's two solo homers gave the 23-year-old from the Dominican Republic five homers in San Antonio's last five games and raised his season total to 19. He is hitting .249.

Schulz (.284) was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer that came immediately in front of Quintana's first homer Friday. SS River Stevens (.253) was 2-for-4 and 1B Trae Santos (.333) was 1-for-3 with a run scored as the Missions improved to 29-25 in the second half of the Texas League and 51-73 overall.

Left-handed starter Tim Berry (1-3, 8.33 ERA) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings to get the win.

Right-hander Rey McNutt (9.00) allowed a run on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in an inning. Left-hander Kyle McGrath (1.40) allowed a hit and a walk with a strikeout in two scoreless innings. Left-hander Jose Torres (1.35) allowed a run on no hits and two walks with a strikeout in an inning to get his second save.

In other moves Friday, infielder-outfielder Tyler Moore was transferred from Fort Wayne to Tri-City and infielder-outfielder Kodie Tidwell moved from Fort Wayne to Lake Elsinore.
