Phillies Weekend Ballpark Buzz: Top 5 Things to Know for Cardinals Series (August 19-21)

This weekend, the St. Louis Cardinals are coming to town for a three-game series, August 18-21, at Citizens Bank Park. Below are the top things happening around the ballpark.

  1. Kick-off the weekend with the Goya Latino Family Celebration on Friday!

Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States, will once again team up with the Phillies to host the Goya Latino Family Celebration. Highlights include:

  • Local artists will perform at the entrance gates, including DJ Diaz, DJ Loso and DJ Faraway.
  • A pregame on-field celebration will feature the 21 Latino flags representing each Latino country, as well as performances by Grupo Fuego and the Caliente Dancers. American Idol contestants Clarimil Christian and Zae will perform the National Anthem.
  • Presentation of the Phillies Goya Family Service Award, given annually to an organization or individual that has an impact in the Latino Community, to Norma Baez, who adopted her three-year old granddaughter. The award will be presented by Phillies' Carlos Ruiz, Goya Director of Public Relations, Raphael Toro, and Executive Director for Concilio, Adonis Banegas.
  • Angel Castillo, member of the Phillies Spanish language broadcast team, will introduce the line-ups in Spanish and Telemundo's Jaime Becerril will co-announce the festivities.
  • Chooch's Chicos will host a group from Concilio at that night's game.

Ashburn Alley opens at 5:05 p.m., all gates open at 5:35 p.m. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

  1. Toyota Harry Kalas Statue Giveaway for all fans Saturday. Plus, Kane Kalas to sing the National Anthem.

On Saturday, August 20, all fans will receive a Toyota Harry Kalas Replica Statue, modeled after the Harry Kalas Statue on the Main Concourse behind Section 140. 

Harry's youngest son, Kane Kalas, will sing the National Anthem.

All gates open at 5:05 p.m. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

  1. Phillies Wives Save a Pet at the Park: adoptable pets, Phillies Charities, Inc. silent auction and collection to help pets in need at Saturday's game!

Also on Saturday, August 20, the Phillies and the Pennsylvania SPCA are teaming up to help animals in need with an adoption station, pet collection, and Phillies Charities, Inc. silent auction at the annual Phillies Wives Save a Pet at the Park.

Be sure to visit the First Base Plaza! Dogs and cats will be available for adoption through the PSPCA, and there will be a collection for pets in need. There will also be a Phillies Charities, Inc. silent auction with signed, new and game-used items from 5:05 - 8:35 p.m. benefitting the PSPCA. Plus, the Phillies Wives will be hosting a Mystery Ball sale!

In addition to the Phillies Wives Save a Pet at the Park, fans and their favorite four-legged friends to take over Citizens Bank Park for Phillies Bark at the Park Saturday. A limited number of dog and human tickets remain and can be found here!

  1. Phillies All-Star Ladies Night Tent Party featuring esteemed writers, Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella, Saturday.
