ATLANTA -- The start of Thursday night's game between the Nationals and Braves was delayed because of a rainstorm that began hovering above Turner Field approximately an hour before the scheduled first pitch, which has been moved back to 8:25 p.m. ET.
With lightning in the area and rain approaching, the Nationals had to cut their batting practice short. The tarp was placed on the field long before the scheduled starting pitchers -- Reynaldo Lopez and Rob Whalen -- would have begun on-field preparations.
