Dodgers Recall Stripling, Place Norris on DL
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled right-handed pitcher Ross Stripling, who will start today's game against Boston, and placed right-hander Bud Norris on the 15-day disabled list with a mild mid-back strain (retroactive to Aug. 1).
Stripling, 26, is 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA in 12 games (eight starts) for the Dodgers, last pitching on Sunday, when he allowed two runs on three hits in 3.2 innings of relief (51 pitches). Stripling's last big-league start was May 19 against the Angels, but since then, he's posted a 1-0 record with a 1.54 ERA (2 ER/11.2 IP) in four relief appearances, all of 2.0 or more innings. In six games (five starts) in the minors this year, Stripling went 0-3 with a 3.66 ERA (8 ER/19.2 IP) with Triple-A Oklahoma City and the Rookie-level AZL Dodgers (one rehab start).
Norris has combined to go 6-9 with a 4.26 ERA in 29 games (16 starts) with the Dodgers and Braves this year, including a 3-2 mark with a 4.34 ERA in seven games (six starts) since being acquired by Los Angeles on June 30.
