Padres activate Solarte; prospect Rondon optioned

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres reinstated Yangervis Solarte from the family leave list on Monday and optioned shortstop Jose Rondon -- the team's No. 12 prospect, according to MLB.com -- back to Double-A San Antonio.

The Padres initially placed Solarte on the family leave list on Wednesday. Solarte has hit .290/.356/.500 for San Diego this season while primarily playing third base and hitting in the middle of the order.

Rondon made his Major League debut vs. the Reds on Friday and made the first start of his big league career the following day, when he also recorded his first hit. Rondon wasn't expected to be a regular fixture during his first stint with the team but showed good range and athleticism in his brief time at the shortstop position.

Worth noting

Alex Dickerson (right hip contusion) is likely available for the Padres off the bench Monday, according to Padres manager Andy Green. The team is hoping that he will be back in the lineup for Tuesday's game. "[Dickerson] took swings the cage today, felt much better," Green said. "Obviously [he] hasn't been here very long, but he's made a heck of an impression. He's swinging the bat as well as anybody in the Major Leagues when he got hurt." Dickerson was injured on Friday against the Reds.
