Phillies "Summer Week of Giving" Begins Today

Phillies players and front office team up to give back during a week of special activities to coincide with Christmas in July

As Christmas in July draws near, the Phillies are spreading holiday cheer with the inaugural "Summer Week of Giving." During the week of July 18 - 22, the Phillies "Summer Week of Giving" will feature events to spread summer fun, as well as give back to the community and various organizations that provide valuable services to those in need.

MONDAY, JULY 18: Phillies Senior Rita's Italian Ice Party, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Paul's Run, 9896 Busleton Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. 19115

  • The Phillies are bringing summer fun to the residents of Paul's Run retirement community. Entertainment includes: Phillies Ambassador Chris Wheeler sharing stories from his book "View from the Booth," the Phillies Ballgirls scooping Rita's Italian Ice for the residents, and a special visit from the Phillie Phanatic.
  • All residents will receive Phillies goodie bags.

TUESDAY, JULY 19: Player Children's Hospital Visit, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, 160 E. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. 19134

  • A Phillies player will visit with patients at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. The visit includes a Q&A with the children in the activity room, followed by an autograph signing.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20: Christmas in July Toy Collection, 5:30 p.m. to the 4th inning, Citizens Bank Park, One Citizens Bank Way, Philadelphia, Pa. 19148

  • The Phillies Ballgirls and local children's charities Ford PAL, Carson Valley Children's Aid, Nemours and the Drueding Center will hold a Christmas in July Toy Collection at all gates before and during the 7:05 p.m. Phillies-Marlins game.
  • The toys will be delivered during the December holiday season to surprise local children in need.

THURSDAY, JULY 21: Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy Indoor Training Center Opening, 1:00 p.m., Marian Anderson Recreation Center, 744 S 17th Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19146

  • The Phillies are joining the City of Philadelphia and Major League Baseball in opening the brand new MLB Urban Youth Academy indoor training center located at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center in South Philadelphia.
  • City dignitaries and Phillies special guests are scheduled to participate.

FRIDAY, JULY 22: Phillies Front Office Volunteer Event, 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Drueding Center, 413 Master Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19122

  • 40 members of the Phillies Front Office will go to work at the Drueding Center in Philadelphia, performing maintenance and repairs.
  • The Drueding Center provides transitional housing for women and children, serving 470 families and housing 30 in their residential program.
