Gonzalez exits with sprained left ankle

HOUSTON -- Astros first baseman Marwin Gonzalez left 13-3 win over the Angels on Sunday afternoon, spraining his left ankle while reaching first on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning.

He is day to day.

With the Astros already leading 10-1 and George Springer on first, Gonzalez hit a grounder directly to Angels second baseman Gregorio Petit, but Petit made an error on the throw to second, allowing Gonzalez to reach.

After crossing first base, Gonzalez started limping. The trainers came over and checked on him before Gonzalez left the game. Danny Worth entered the game to pinch-run. Worth remained in the game to play third base, with Luis Valbuena moving from third to first.

Gonzalez started his 69th game, 44th at first base, Sunday and extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the first.
