Colorado Rockies recall right-handed pitcher Scott Oberg

Right-hander Chad Qualls placed on the 15-day disabled list with colitis

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Scott Oberg from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed right-hander Chad Qualls on the 15-day disabled list with colitis (retroactive to July 16).

• Oberg, 26, will be making his third stint on the Rockies active roster … was optioned to Triple-A June 19 after being recalled prior to that night's game in Miami for his second stint on the active roster this season … has made nine appearances for the Rockies this season with no decisions and a 4.05 ERA (13.1 IP, 6 ER) with 14 hits, five walks and eight strikeouts … has pitched a career-high two innings in each of his last four games since May 5 … in 27 games with Albuquerque, is 1-0 with a 2.43 ERA (29.2 IP, 8 ER), 16 hits, 11 walks and 36 strikeouts … made 64 appearances in his rookie season with the Rockies in 2015, going 3-4 with one save and a 5.09 ERA (58.1 IP, 33 ER) … was originally selected by the Rockies in the 15th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Connecticut.

• Qualls, 37, is 2-0 with a 5.61 ERA (25.2 IP, 16 ER), 37 hits, six walks and 14 strikeouts over 36 games with the Rockies this season … is in his 12th MLB season with his ninth team, and has a career record of 51-47 with a 3.86 ERA (783.2 IP, 336 ER), a 9.14 hits-per-nine innings rate, a 2.33 walks-per-nine innings rate and a 6.95 strikeouts-per-nine innings rate … was signed by the Rockies to a two-year contract on Dec. 8, 2015.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
