A's Recall RHP Zach Neal from Nashville; Option LHP Patrick Schuster to Nashville
The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Zach Neal from Triple-A Nashville and optioned left-handed pitcher Patrick Schuster to Nashville, the club announced today.
Neal joins the A's for the fourth time this year and is 1-1 with a save, an 8.04 ERA and .368 opponents batting average in eight games, including one start, with Oakland. He has not issued a walk in 15.2 innings but has surrendered four home runs. The 27-year-old right-hander is 7-2 with a 3.21 ERA in 11 starts with Nashville and has walked just eight batters in 61.2 innings. Neal made three starts with the Sounds following his most recent option on June 30 and went 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
Schuster was selected from Nashville July 4 and made his Major League debut the next night at Minnesota when he allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in one inning. He compiled a 15.43 ERA in four relief appearances overall with Oakland. Schuster is 1-0 with five saves and a 1.30 ERA in 28 relief appearances with Nashville.
