Astros Return Home to Pick Up Momentum in Race for AL West

Astros now only 3.5 games behind division-leading Rangers; Astros Fedora and Evan Gattis Gnome giveaway also highlight homestand

The Astros, who own the best record in baseball since May 23 at 34-15, return home to cap off a run of 16-straight divisional match-ups. This Friday, Houston faces off against the AL West rival LA Angels of Anaheim (July 22-24), against whom they own a 8-1 record this season. Then on Monday, the Astros host the New York Yankees for a three-game set, July 25-27. The Astros are closing the gap in the AL West, having bottomed out at 11.0 games back as recently as June 20, and now sit 3.5 games back of the division lead. Houston is also within striking distance of an AL Wild Card spot at 2.5 games back. The Astros are 28-19 at home this season, and 24-18 against AL West opponents.

All three of the Astros RBI teams, including the softball, senior baseball and junior baseball teams, advanced to the MLB RBI World Series last weekend during the RBI Southwest Regional Tournament in New Orleans. The MLB RBI World Series will take place in Cincinnati in early August. Congratulations to the members of all three Astros RBI teams on their second-consecutive MLB RBI World Series appearance!
