A's recall IF/OF Alcantara from Nashville; option LHP Overton to Nashville

The Oakland A's recalled infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville and optioned left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton to Nashville, the club announced today.
 
Alcantara joins the A's for the second time this year after going 2-for-8 (.250) with two stolen bases in three games during his first stint from June 21 to 28. He was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on June 9 for Chris Coghlan and was assigned to Nashville. The 24-year-old switch-hitter hit .377 in 13 games with the Sounds following his June 29 option and is batting .296 in 23 games overall with Nashville. Alcantara hit .264 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 53 games with Triple-A Iowa and is batting .274 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and a Pacific Coast League leading 28 stolen bases in 77 Triple-A games overall. He appeared in 54 games at second base, seven at shortstop, seven in center field and two in left field.
 
Overton was recalled from Nashville yesterday for his second stint with the A's this year. He started and had a no decision in the A's 4-3, 10-inning win over Houston last night, allowing three runs on nine hits and no walks in 6.1 innings. Overton is now 1-1 with an 8.40 ERA in three starts with Oakland and 10-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 16 games, 15 starts, with Nashville.
