Indians make several roster moves

Place C Yan Gomes on 15-day DL; activate Perez

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2016 Major League roster:

Placed C YAN GOMES on the 15-day Disabled List with a separated right shoulder.

Activated C ROBERTO PEREZ (#55) from the 60-day Disabled List.

Recalled LHP KYLE CROCKETT (#57) from Triple-A Columbus.

Optioned RHP CODY ANDERSON to Columbus.

Gomes was injured running to first base yesterday in Minnesota, sustaining an AC joint separation to his right shoulder avoiding a tag from first baseman Kennys Vargas. It marks his third career stint on the Major League Disabled List. His estimated time of recovery is 4-to-8 weeks.

Perez sustained a broken right thumb and ligament damage at a play at home plate on April 30 in Philadelphia and underwent surgery on May 6. He appeared in 4 games over the first month of the season and was 0-for-8 with 6 walks and 2 runs scored (.400 on-base pct.) during April. He began a rehabilitation assignment on July 3 and hit .313 (5-16, 8BB) with a double, 3 RBI and 5 runs scored in 9 games for the Rookie AZL Indians, A Lake County and AAA Columbus.

Crockett begins his second stint in Cleveland in 2016, spending over three weeks with the club over 11 relief appearances from April 27-May 22 (3.2IP, 7H, 6R/ER). He has spent the remainder of the season at Triple-A Columbus, posting a record of 1-1 with a 3.62 ERA across 26 relief outings (27.1IP, 26H, 11R/ER, 9BB, 22SO, .243 avg).   He worked at least 1.0IP in 20 of his 26 outings with the Clippers and owns an ERA of 2.45 since June 15 (11.0IP, 9H, 3R/ER).
