Pitcher to watch: Luke Weaver (Cardinals' No. 3), Springfield vs. Arkansas (Doubleheader Game 2, MiLB.TV)
Weaver scuffled for the first time this season in his most recent start for Double-A Springfield, when he allowed four earned runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings against Northwest Arkansas. The 22-year-old right-hander still managed to strike out eight and walk just one, giving him an impressive 57-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 48 2/3 frames (eight starts) for the season. Weaver is 4-2 with a 1.48 ERA for the Cardinals.
Garrett, No. 59 on the Top 100, is set to make his first start following his outing for the U.S. squad in the SiriusXM Futures Game. The 24-year-old southpaw has pitched to a 2.89 ERA across three outings for Triple-A Louisville since being promoted from Double-A Pensacola, where he had dominated to the tune of a 1.75 ERA with zero home runs allowed over 13 appearances (12 starts), all the while holding opposing hitters to a .184 average.
Clevinger has been excellent for Triple-A Columbus this season, going 9-0 in 14 starts and posting a 2.72 ERA over 76 frames. The 25-year-old righty has fanned 83, and he enters the day having punched out at least six hitters in four straight turns.
