Pirates reinstate Gerrit Cole from rehab assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates today recalled right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. Cole, who will start tonight for the Pirates at Washington, was on the disabled list since June 14 (retro to June 11) with a right triceps strain. He went 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (8.0ip/4h/0r/0bb/12so) in two rehab starts with Triple-A Indianapolis.

To make room for Cole on the 25-man active roster, the Pirates have optioned first baseman Josh Bell to Triple-A.
