Royals reinstate Wade Davis from DL; option Brooks Pounders to Omaha

The Kansas City Royals announced today that right-handed pitcher Wade Davis has been reinstated from the disabled list. Davis, a two-time All-Star selection, had been sidelined since July 5 (retroactive to July 1) with a right forearm strain. To make room on the 25-man roster, the Royals have optioned right-handed pitcher Brooks Pounders to Omaha (AAA).

Davis, 30, is tied for fifth in the American League with 19 saves in 21 opportunities and also ranks fifth among the league's relievers in ERA (1.23) and eighth in opponents' average (.176). Since the start of 2014, he's tied for the Major League lead in wins by a reliever, with 18, while his ERA (1.01), opponents' average (.153) and home runs allowed per 9.0 innings (0.16) are tops among all relief pitchers.
