Pirates-Cardinals gets underway after delay

ST. LOUIS -- For the third straight day, the start of a game at Busch Stadium was delayed by rain.

About 40 minutes before the 1:15 p.m. CT scheduled first pitch on Monday, the Cardinals announced that the series opener against the Pirates would not start on time. It got underway around 2:30.

This delay follows the one-hour, 32-minute pushback of Saturday's start time due to rain and a game on Sunday in which the Cardinals endured two hours and 29 minutes of delays due to storms. Both of those games were against the Brewers.
