A's place C Josh Phegley on DL; Recall C Matt McBride from Nashville

The Oakland A's placed catcher Josh Phegley on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to yesterday with a strained right knee, the club announced today. To take his spot on the roster, the A's recalled catcher Matt McBride from Triple-A Nashville.
McBride joins the A's for the third time this year and is batting .222 with one RBI in eight games. He did not play during his first stint from April 27 to 28, and made four starts at catcher during his second stay from May 13 to 26. The 31-year-old right-handed hitter is batting .250 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 43 games with Nashville. McBride hit .306 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 23 games with the Sounds following his May 27 option from Oakland. In addition to 23 games at catcher, he also appeared in nine games in left field, eight in right field and one at first base with Nashville.
Phegley goes on the disabled list for the second time this year as he was also out from May 10 to 26 with a strained right knee. He is batting .256 with a home run and 10 RBI in 26 games with Oakland but was just 3-for-23 (.130) over his last eight contests.
