Recall INF Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Iowa

The Chicago Cubs today placed outfielder Chris Coghlan on the 15-day disabled list with a right rib cage strain and recalled infielder Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Iowa.

Candelario, who will wear uniform number seven, will be available for the Cubs this afternoon as they conclude their four-game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

The 22-year-old Candelario joins the first major league roster of his career after batting .333 (25-for-75) with seven doubles, two triples, three home runs and 15 RBI in 25 games with Iowa.
