The Oakland A's reinstated left-handed pitcher Rich Hill from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Hill was placed on the disabled list June 9 retroactive to May 30 with strained left groin. He made one rehab start with Single-A Stockton on Monday at Modesto, allowing a run on four hits and no walks in 3.0 innings while striking out six. The 36-year-old left-hander was 8-3 with a 2.25 ERA in 11 starts with the A's before the injury. Hill ranked second in the American League in wins and ERA before the injury, third in strikeouts (74) and fifth in opponents batting average (.207).
Triggs was recalled from Nashville Thursday for his sixth stint with the A's this year and worked in two games, tossing 3.2 shutout innings while allowing three hits and three walks. He has a 6.20 ERA and .294 opponents batting average in 13 games overall with the A's. Triggs is 2-1 with two saves and a 3.14 ERA in 13 relief appearances with Nashville.
