The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitcher Daniel Coulombe and right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. The A's also placed left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 26 with a strained left shoulder and optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Neal to Nashville.
Coulombe joins the A's for the fourth time this year and is 1-0 with a 4.61 ERA in 10 relief appearances. He has walked just three batters in 13.2 innings but has surrendered four home runs The 26-year-old left-hander pitched in seven games during his most recent stint from June 4 to 20 and had a 4.50 ERA and .303 opponents batting average. Coulombe had no decisions and a 1.17 ERA in 18 relief appearances with Nashville. He has struck out 34, walked just five and did not allow a home run in 23.0 innings.
Triggs begins his sixth stint with Oakland tonight and has a 7.29 ERA and .303 opponents batting average in 11 games with the A's. His most recent stay with Oakland lasted just one day and he allowed a run on three hits in 3.0 innings in his only outing on June 18 against Los Angeles. The 27-year-old right-hander is 2-1 with two saves and a 3.14 ERA in 13 relief appearances with Nashville. Triggs pitched in four games following his June 19 option and did not allow a run in three of those for a 2.25 ERA.
Doolittle is 2-2 with four saves and a 2.93 ERA in 35 relief appearances. He logged a 6.75 ERA over his first six games before compiling a 1.33 ERA over a 24-game stretch from April 16 to June 12. Doolittle has a 5.40 ERA over his last five contests.
Neal is 1-1 with a save, an 8.40 ERA and a .368 opponents batting average in eight games, including one start, over three stints with the A's. He was called up most recently on June 10 and recorded his first Major League save (June 13 vs. Texas) and win (June 28 vs. San Francisco) over that stretch. Neal is 6-1 with a 2.83 ERA in eight starts with Nashville.
