Phillies Ballpark Buzz: Top 5 Things to Know for the Homestand (July 1-6)

The Phillies start Fourth of July weekend with fireworks and a fun-filled homestand at Citizens Bank Park with a series versus the Kansas City Royals (July 1-3) followed by a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves (July 4-6). Below are some of the must-know highlights when coming to the ballpark.

  1.     Kick-off the weekend with an XFINITY fireworks spectacular Friday and enjoy the encore show Saturday!

On Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2, following the games against the Kansas City Royals, fans will be able to enjoy a world-class fireworks show choreographed to music performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, compliments of XFINITY. Friday, July 1, Ashburn Alley opens at 5:05 p.m., all gates open at 5:35 p.m. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Saturday, July 2, All gates open at 3:50 p.m. Game time is 5:50 p.m.

  1. Are you feeling lucky? All fans 18 and over will receive Pennsylvania Lottery ticket coupons Sunday. Plus, American Idol alums to sing at the game.

On Sunday, July 3, all fans 18 and over will receive a coupon for a buy one, get one free ticket for the Pennsylvania Lottery Cash4Life game. Also, two American Idol alums will perform at that day's game: Joanna Pacitti, American Idol Season 8, will sing the National Anthem and Courtney Zahn, American Idol Season 14, will sing God Bless America with 11 year-old Riley McEvoy.

  1. Celebrate Independence Day at the Phillies Salute to Veterans Game. Special on-field, pre-game salute to honor those who serve our country. Plus, fans can write thank you notes to military members.

On Monday, July 4, to celebrate Independence Day, the Phillies will host a Salute to Veterans Game. Fans are invited to be in their seats by 3:30 p.m. for a very special Phillies salute to the nation's military, which includes:

  • National Anthem and God Bless America performed by the 78th Army Band.
  • All Service Color Guard will present the colors.
  • Veterans injured in the line of duty will lead fans in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • Among those to be recognized are representatives from every conflict since World War II, escorted by an ROTC Honor Guard, made up of members of the Cherokee High School ROTC and the Benjamin Franklin School ROTC.
  • All Phillies day-of-game employees who served in the United States military will have the distinct honor of carrying the 50 state flags onto the field.
  • The entire Phillies roster, including players, coaches and umpires, will wear a specially-designed "Stars & Stripes" uniform in support of the Salute to Veterans. The caps and jerseys will be available in a limited quantity for fans to purchase at the Majestic Clubhouse Store.
  • Phillies' pitcher Charlie Morton will host members of the Liberty USO.

The first 500 fans that purchase tickets through this Theme Night Ticket promotion will receive a coupon for an exclusive Phillies Dog Tag giveaway (pictured, right). All military personnel, veterans, and their guests can also receive a $4 discount off tickets regularly priced $47 and under.

Plus, stop by Section 136 (outside of the Majestic Clubhouse Store) to write thank you notes to military members. The notes will be mailed over the holidays and included in care packages being sent to active military that are deployed.

Tuesday, July 5 is Ghostbusters Night. Characters from the movie will be roving the concourse to meet and greet with fans during the game and one lucky row will win Ghostbuster goodies.
