The Orioles today announced that they have acquired veteran CA Alberto Castillo from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league OF Cory Keylor.

Castillo was a non-roster invitee to Boston's spring training camp and had batted .308 (4-13) with two doubles, a home run and four RBI in 11 games this spring. He has batted .222 over 11 Major League seasons with the Mets, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Yankees, Giants, Royals and A's. Castillo, 37, spent the 2006 season with AAA New Orleans in the Washington Nationals organization, batting .268 in 88 games. He will report to the Orioles' Major League camp on Wednesday as a non-roster invitee.

Keylor, 27, began the spring as a non-roster invitee to camp before being reassigned to the minor league camp on March 5. He spent last year at AA Bowie and was named the organization's Brooks Robinson Minor League Player of the Year after finishing fifth in the Eastern League with a .294 batting average and leading the Baysox with 131 hits and 68 RBI. Keylor was the Orioles' 14th round pick in the 2001 First-Year Player Draft.
