Seattle's Powell suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Seattle Mariners 40-man roster outfielder Herschel "Boog" Powell has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Powell, who is currently on option to Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League, is effective immediately.
