Braun, Lucroy need fans' help for All-Star Game

MILWAUKEE -- Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun and catcher Jonathan Lucroy remained on the outside looking in Wednesday when Major League Baseball released the latest round of National League All-Star team balloting figures.

The Brewers' two best hitters remained in fifth place at their respective positions, Braun with 1,045,953 votes and Lucroy with 618,896 votes. The top three outfielders and top catcher will start for the NL on July 12 in San Diego.

Both Braun and Lucroy have a solid case for what would be Braun's seventh All-Star Game and Lucroy's second. Braun entered Wednesday's game against the A's with the third-best batting average among NL outfielders at .319 and was fifth with a .917 OPS.

Lucroy is the league's second-most productive catcher behind Washington's Wilson Ramos, trailing only Ramos at the position in batting average (.311), OPS (.891) and weighted runs created plus (133), considered one of the truest measures of offensive production. It meant Lucroy entered Wednesday 33 percent more productive than the average Major League catcher.
