Cozart remains 5th among shortstops in ASG voting

ARLINGTON -- As All-Star voting enters its final week, Reds shortstop Zack Cozart maintained his spot in fifth place among National League shortstops in the most recent balloting update.

With 449,278 votes, Cozart trails the Giants' Brandon Crawford, who is fourth with 692,640 votes. The Cubs' Addison Russell leads NL shortstops with 1,489,998 votes, followed by Colorado's Trevor Story (1,110,002 votes) and the Dodgers' Corey Seager (703,230 votes).

Cozart is batting .284/.325/.513 with 11 homers and 30 RBIs in 62 games this season. He leads Cincinnati in hitting and with 18 doubles. He is also on pace for 25 homers, which would smash his career of 15.

"I think this year in particular is the most consistent I've been for sure," Cozart said after Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Rangers where he had a two-run triple and solo homer. "In my career, I'll go a week or two where I have these spurts, and then two or three weeks of doing nothing, really. Then I'd come back.

"That's the biggest difference this year, and even a little last year before I got hurt. I had my 0-for-15's or so, but even during those 0-for-15's, I still felt like I was hitting the ball hard, and just not getting any hits. I didn't really dwell on it. I feel like if I'm consistently putting myself in a good position to hit, I will be just fine."

Duvall's 20th homer ties it up

No other Reds are among the top vote-getters at their positions. Left fielder Adam Duvall is second in the Major Leagues with 20 home runs and the NL leader with a .590 slugging percentage. Duvall and his teammates have one more week to receive some needed votes.
