A's recall IF/OF Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville; Option LHP Coulombe

The Oakland A's recalled infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara from Triple-A Nashville and optioned left-handed pitcher Daniel Coulombe to Nashville, the club announced today.
 
Alcantara was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on June 9 for Chris Coghlan and was assigned to Nashville. He went 6-for-37 (.162) with a home run and three RBI in 10 games with the Sounds after batting .264 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 53 games with the Cubs. Alcantara is batting .248 in 63 games overall and is a perfect 26-for-26 in stolen bases attempts. He is leading the Pacific Coast League and is tied for 11th in all of the minor leagues in stolen bases. The 24-year-old switch-hitter appeared in three games each in center field, shortstop and second base at Nashville after playing exclusively at second base on defense at Iowa. He made his Major League debut with Chicago in 2014 and is a .194 career hitter with 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 81 games.
 
Coulombe was 1-0 with a 4.61 ERA in 10 relief appearances with the A's. He was recalled for his third stint on June 4 and logged a 4.50 ERA in seven outings. Coulombe has a 0.45 ERA and .171 opponents batting average in 16 games with Nashville.
