Errors doom Lowe in loss to Indians

|
INDIANS 5, DODGERS 0
at Winter Haven, Fla.
Sunday, March 18

Indians at the plate: First baseman Ryan Garko came through with a pair of two-out RBI singles in the first and fifth innings. Trevor Crowe also knocked in a pair of runs with an RBI single in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the sixth. David Dellucci knocked in Jason Michaels on a sac fly in the fourth.

Dodgers at the plate: Andy La Roche had a hard-hit double in the fourth, and Larry Bigbie, Chin-Lung Hu and Wilson Valdez all singled in the fifth, but the Dodgers weren't able to get any runs across against C.C. Sabathia.

Indians on the mound: Sabathia looked solid in five innings of work. He gave up four hits and a walk while striking out two, and he worked himself out of a fifth-inning jam. Roberto Hernandez, who has yet to allow a run this spring, worked a perfect sixth, and Fernando Cabrera pitched a perfect seventh.

Dodgers on the mound: Right-hander Derek Lowe, who will be the club's Opening Day starter, went 4 1/3 innings in which he was felled by his defense. He gave up four runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits with a walk and a strikeout. Left-hander Tim Hamulack relieved him and got the last two outs of the fifth. Chad Billingsley gave up a run in one inning of work.

Grapefruit League records: Indians 12-6-1; Dodgers 13-7.

Up next: The Indians are going to Disney World. They'll face the Braves at 1:05 p.m. ET on Monday. Right-hander Adam Miller will start opposite left-hander Chuck James. The Dodgers are heading to Viera to face the Nationals, also at 1:05 p.m. Left-hander Randy Wolf will start against right-hander Shawn Hill.
