Elias, 27, is 4-3 with a 3.54 ERA (24 ER/61.0 IP) in 10 appearances (nine starts) with the PawSox this season, including 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA (8 ER/36.0 IP) and 40 strikeouts in his last five outings. The left-hander surrendered only one run in a complete-game effort on June 5 at Norfolk and most recently threw 7.0 shutout innings on June 10 against Louisville. Acquired by Boston from Seattle this past December, Elias made his Red Sox debut on April 23 at Houston, allowing three runs in 1.2 innings of relief. For his major league career, the Cuban native has gone 15-20 with a 4.04 ERA (126 ER/280.2 IP) and 241 strikeouts in 52 games (49 starts) for the Mariners (2014-15) and Red Sox (2016).
Rutledge, 27, has appeared in 28 games with the Red Sox this season, making 10 starts at third base and two at second base. Acquired by Boston from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last July, the Alabama native has hit .265 (13-for-49) with a .345 on-base percentage, six doubles, three RBI, and nine runs scored in the majors this season. In 333 career major league games with Colorado (2012-14) and Boston (2015-16), the right-handed batter has hit .262 (260-for-994) with 49 doubles, 13 triples, and 20 home runs. He has also played in 350 minor league games, batting .318 (443-for-1,393) with a .374 on-base percentage and .487 slugging percentage.
