Bucs agree to terms with 9 Draft picks

The Pirates agreed to terms with nine players from the 2016 Draft on Wednesday.

Fifth-round pick Blake Cederlind, a right-hander who went 3-1 in 13 appearances (two starts) and struck out 17 for Merced College, will report to the Rookie-level Bristol Pirates.

Sixth-round pick Cam Vieaux, a left-hander out of Michigan State, went 7-4 with a 2.28 ERA in 15 appearances (14 starts) for the Spartans in 2016. He'll report to the Short-Season Class A West Virginia Black Bears.

Catcher Brent Gibbs, who the Pirates selected in the seventh round out of Central Arizona College, will report to the Bristol Pirates. He hit .396 with 11 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 38 RBIs in 48 games in 2016.

Right-hander Dylan Prohoroff, who was selected in the eighth round out of Cal State Fullerton, will report to the Black Bears. He went 1-1 with a 0.68 ERA, tallying three saves and 30 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances as a junior.

Ninth-round pick Clark Eagan out of the University of Arkansas will report to the Black Bears. The outfielder hit .298 with eight doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 37 RBIs in 55 games as a junior.

Danny Beddes, a 15th-round pick out of Utah Valley University, will report to the Black Bears. The right-hander went 9-4 with a 4.56 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 2016.

Matt Diorio, a 16th-round pick out of the University of Central Florida, will report to the Black Bears. He hit .279 with seven doubles, three homers and 22 RBIs in 2016, while making 36 starts as an outfielder, catcher or designated hitter.

Infielder Kevin Mahala, who was taken in the 18th round out of George Washington University, will report to the Black Bears. He hit .286 with four home runs and a team-best 47 RBIs in 55 games in 2016.

Right-hander Brandon Bingel, who was taken in the 22nd round out of Bryant University, went 9-4 with a 3.77 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 14 starts in 2016 while also hitting .284 with 10 doubles, eight homers and 40 RBIs.
