Braves Conclude 2016 First-Year Player Draft
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves completed the 2016 First-Year Player Draft today by selecting 30 players in addition to the 12 selections during the first two days of the draft. Overall, the 42 draftees included 24 pitchers (16 right-handers, eight left-handers), nine infielders, five outfielders and four catchers. Atlanta selected 30 college players, while the remaining 12 players were chosen out of high school. Seven of the 42 selected players are from the state of Georgia.
With their 36th-round pick, the Braves selected C Andres Perez out of Pinecrest Academy in Cumming, Ga., the son of the Braves' current first base coach and former catcher Eddie Perez. Atlanta's 30th-round selection, RHP Cameron Stanton, is the son of former Braves pitcher Mike Stanton.
