Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids and PLAY Clinic Highlight Community Efforts During Homestand

KANSAS CITY, MO (June 10, 2016) - As the Royals return home to host the Cleveland Indians (June 13-15) and Detroit Tigers (June 16-19), the club will host two clinics and welcome several groups throughout the homestand. Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids will take place on June 14 and the PLAY Clinic is set for June 16. Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas will once again host children and families from their respective charity programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters (June 16) and Moose Lodge (June 17). Monday, June 13 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Kauffman Scholars - The Club will help start a 100-day countdown to September 12, the date that would have been the late Ewing Kauffman's 100th birthday, by hosting young men and women of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Scholars during a pregame ceremony. Julia Irene Kauffman, daughter of the late Royals founder and owner, will recognize her father's legacy and lifelong commitment to education by presenting the first-ever Uncommon Award to Kauffman Scholar Kameron Berkeley.

Tuesday, June 14 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Clinic with Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids - The Club has partnered with Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids for a third year to host a youth clinic for approximately 40 children with special needs. Each child will receive a personalized jersey and take part in a clinic with stations led by current Royals players, coaches and Royals alumni. The event will take place on The Little K at Kauffman Stadium and will start at 1:30 p.m.
  •  "C" You at The K - Royals General Manager Dayton Moore, together with the "C" You in the Major Leagues Foundation (CYITML) and the Royals, will host area groups to join him at select games this season. The special guests from Kansas RBI will watch batting practice, enjoy dinner with Moore and watch the Royals game. The CYITML Foundation was founded in January 2014 to support youth baseball, education, faith-based organizations and events and families in crisis throughout the greater Kansas City area and beyond.

Wednesday, June 15 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Colon hosts Bishop Sullivan Center - Infielder Christian Colon will host kids who are participating in the Go2Bat4Others program with the Bishop Sullivan Center. The pre-selected kids have hosted collections and visited the food pantry to help others in need. The infielder will meet the young donors in the stands during Royals batting practice.
  • Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast. 
  • Perfect Attendance Night - Nearly 4,000 area elementary school children who achieve perfect attendance throughout the academic school year are honored at the first of two Perfect Attendance Days (the second will be July 18). The Royals salute these dedicated students with complimentary tickets.

Thursday, June 16 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • PLAY Clinic - The Royals team up with the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) to host a free PLAY (Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth) clinic at Kauffman Stadium from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Royals pitcher Dillon Gee and Head Athletic Trainer Nick Kenney are scheduled to join members of the Royals sports medicine staff to lead 125 pre-selected youth from the Kansas City, Kan. and Kansas City, Mo. Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities programs, Police Athletic League and others in exercises to promote health and wellness.
  • Hosmer hosts Big Brothers, Big Sisters - Eric Hosmer will host 30 participants from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City program. The first baseman will meet the group in the stands during Royals batting practice.

Friday, June 17 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Moose Lodge - Third baseman Mike Moustakas, together with the Royals and KCP&L, will host foster care children and their families in the Moose Lodge. Each child from Drumm Farm Center for Children will receive complimentary tickets, a "Moose Lodge" t-shirt and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza. The special guests will also participate in a meet-and-greet with Moustakas before the game.
  • Green Team - During select games throughout the season, local organizations and volunteers who sign up to be a part of the Royals Green Team, sponsored by Republic Services, will help collect aluminum and recyclable plastics at the stadium gates as well as throughout multiple innings of the game. 

Saturday, June 18 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Prostate Cancer Foundation Home Run Challenge - During the week of Father's Day, Major League Baseball joins the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to support efforts to find a cure for prostate cancer. Mike Milken, PCF founder and chairman, will join local supporters for a special pre-game presentation in support of the Home Run Challenge. For more information, see homerunchallenge.org.
  • Green Team - During select games throughout the season, local organizations and volunteers who sign up to be a part of the Royals Green Team, sponsored by Republic Services, will help collect aluminum and recyclable plastics at the stadium gates as well as throughout multiple innings of the game. 

Sunday, June 19 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 1:15 p.m.
