Third baseman Ryan Schimpf continued the hot hitting that made him the Pacific Coast League's Player of the Week on Monday night, leading streaking Triple-A El Paso to a 6-2 win at Fresno.

Schimpf, 28, was 3-for-4 with his 15th double and 13th home run for two RBIs and two runs scored. Schimpf has eight home runs in his last 11 games and was 12-for-24 the previous week with five home runs and 11 RBIs to win the PCL's Player of the Week award. He is hitting .345 on the season.

El Paso scored its fourth straight win and 14th in the last 15 games Monday. The Chihuahuas are 35-22 and lead the Pacific Southern division by five games.

Center fielder Manuel Margot (.307) was 2-for-5. First baseman Jason Hagerty (.327) was activated from the PCL's seven-day disabled list in time to hit a two-run homer in three at-bats.

Starting right-hander Daniel McCutchen (6-3, 5.68 ERA) allowed six hits with three walks over six scoreless innings. Left-hander Buddy Baumann made his second rehab outing with the Chihuahuas and allowed a run on three hits in an inning. Right-hander Derek Eitel (2.73 ERA) struck out two in a perfect inning.

There was considerable movement in the Padres system Monday. As Hagerty came off the disabled list with El Paso, infielder-outfielder Jose Pirela was placed on the seven-day PCL disabled list. Right-hander starter Dinelson Lamet, left-handed reliever Jose Torres and right-handed reliever Yimmi Brasoban were promoted from Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore to Double-A San Antonio. Meanwhile, the Missions transferred left-hander Brandon Alger and right-hander Elliot Morris to extended spring training and released outfielder Yeison Asencio, 26, who was hitting .254 with a homer and 11 RBIs.
