A's recall LHP Coulombe from Nashville, option RHP Triggs to Nashville

The Oakland A's have recalled left-handed pitcher Daniel Coulombe from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs to Nashville, the team announced today.

Coulombe joins the A's for the third time this year and has a 4.76 ERA in three relief appearances with Oakland. He was with Oakland for the first time for a one-day stint on May 10 and pitched that night at Boston, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks in 2.0 innings of relief. He was recalled for his second stint May 22 and did not allow a run in two games and 3.2 innings before he was optioned back to Nashville on May 25. Coulombe also has a 0.45 ERA and .171 opponents batting average in 16 relief appearances with the Sounds and has not allowed a home run in 20.0 innings.

Triggs allowed five runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings last night, the longest appearance by an A's reliever this year. He has an 8.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances over four stints with Oakland. He was recalled for his fourth stint May 10 and posted a 9.00 ERA in eight games. He did not allow a runner to reach base in two games and 2.0 innings over his first three stints. Triggs is also 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA and .188 opponents batting average in seven relief appearances with the Sounds.
