Joe Mauer's recent power surge has earned the Twins first baseman American League Player of the Week honors.

Mauer slugged four home runs last week to help lead the Twins to a 4-2 record, including a sweep of the Mariners at Safeco Field.

Mauer also hit .440/.500/.920 with seven RBIs, three walks and seven runs scored. He homered in all three games against the Mariners and compiled four multihit games last week, including a three-hit effort against the Royals on May 23.

This is Mauer's third career AL Player of the Week honor and first since May 2009.
