Rangers deal Kivlehan to Mariners

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers traded Minor League outfielder Patrick Kivlehan to the Mariners during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Pirates for a player to be named or cash.

Kivlehan, the Rangers' No. 24 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, had been designated for assignment on Monday to make room for Jared Hoying on the 40-man roster with Shin-Soo Choo and Drew Stubbs going on the 15-day disabled list..

The Rangers acquired Kivlehan from the Mariners on Dec. 6 as a player to be named in the package for outfielder Leonys Martin. He was batting .184 in 36 games for Triple-A Round Rock this season.
