Kansas City's Mondesi suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Kansas City Royals infielder Raul Mondesi has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Clenbuterol, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Mondesi, a member of the Club's 40-man roster who is currently on the roster of Northwest Arkansas of the Texas League (Double-A), is effective immediately.
