Texas rangers place RHP A.J. Griffin on 15-day disabled list
The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has placed RHP A.L. Griffin on the 15-day disabled list.
Left-handed pitcher Alex Claudio has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League to replace Griffin on the active roster.
Griffin left his start on Saturday in Detroit in the third inning with stiffness in his right shoulder. He is expected to be further examined by Rangers team physician Dr. Keith Meister on Monday in Arlington.
Griffin allowed 4 hits and 3 runs in 2.2 innings in a no decision on Saturday versus the Tigers, his shortest outing of the year. He is 3-0, 2.94 in 6 overall starts in 2016.
Claudio returns to the Rangers after being optioned to Round Rock on Saturday when Texas signed outfielder Drew Stubbs. The left-hander has allowed 2 runs in 5.2 innings over 4 relief appearances since his initial recall from Round Rock on April 13.
With today's moves, the Rangers' major league roster remains at 40 players.
