Colorado Rockies place catcher Nick Hundley on disabled list
DENVER - The Colorado Rockies today placed catcher Nick Hundley on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained left oblique and recalled catcher Dustin Garneau from Triple-A Albuquerque.
- Garneau, 28, will be making his second appearance on the active roster this season … was originally recalled from Triple-A April 14 when outfielder Charlie Blackmon was placed on the disabled list and optioned on April 25 when Hundley was reinstated from the seven-day disabled list … appeared in three games, all starts, going 4-for-10 with one run, three doubles, one RBI, two walks and two strikeouts … in 11 games with Albuquerque this season he has batted .216 (8-for-37) with four runs, three doubles, two home runs, three RBI, five walks and 11 strikeouts … made his Major League debut in 2015 and played in 22 games … in 25 career Major League games Garneau has batted .188 (15-for-80) with seven runs, six doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, eight walks and 16 strikeouts. - Hundley, 32, has batted .273 (12-for-44) with three runs, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, seven RBI, 10 walks and nine strikeouts in 13 games this season … he will be making his second stint on the disabled list after being placed on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion April 16 (retroactive to April 14) … across parts of nine Major League seasons in 676 games with San Diego (2008-2014), Baltimore (2014) and Colorado (2015-2016), Hundley is a career .249 hitter with 226 runs, 113 doubles, 17 triples, 64 home runs, 264 RBI, 168 walks, 570 strikeouts and 13 stolen bases.
