Wider release of 'Royalty Reigns' begins today

Documentary chronicles development of a championship franchise

The Kansas City Royals remind fans they can purchase the new film, Royalty Reigns, a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack detailing the successful run to the 2015 World Series title and the decade of work that went into the climb to baseball prominence. The combo has been available exclusively at the Kauffman Stadium Majestic Team Store and will now be distributed through Walmart, Best Buy and Hallmark.

The 80-minute film documents the organization's return to championship status through the support of David and Dan Glass as owners, the 2006 hiring of Dayton Moore, his assembling of a baseball operations staff and the players who joined the system through draft choices and key trades. The film is packed with highlights that lead up to and culminate with the thrilling 2014 and 2015 seasons. In addition to interviews with all of the key players, front office personnel and coaching staff, Royalty Reigns details both of the most memorable comebacks in Royals' history -- the rally from the four-run deficit in the 2014 Wild Card Game against Oakland that began an 8-0 start to that postseason and last fall's rally in Houston when Kansas City was down 6-2 with just six outs remaining in Game 4 of the American League Division Series.
