White Sox option Miguel Gonzalez to Class AAA Charlotte; recall Daniel Webb from Charlotte
Prior to tonight's game at Toronto, the Chicago White Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Miguel Gonzalez to Class AAA Charlotte and recalled right-hander Daniel Webb from Charlotte.
Webb, 26, is 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA (4 ER/10.2 IP), two saves, five strikeouts and zero walks in seven relief appearances with the Knights in 2016. Left-handers are hitting just .133 (2-15). He appeared in 27 games with the White Sox in 2015, going 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA (21 ER/30.0 IP) and 22 strikeouts.
Webb has gone 7-5 with a 4.54 ERA (55 ER/109.0 IP) and 90 strikeouts in 93 career appearances with Chicago from 2013-15. He was acquired by the White Sox from Toronto in a three-player trade on January 1, 2012.
Gonzalez, whose contract was purchased by Chicago on Monday, made his season debut that night as the starting pitcher at Toronto. He received a no decision after allowing five runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts over 5.1 IP.
