A's Select C/OF McBride from Nashville; option RHP Triggs to Nashville

The Oakland A's selected catcher/outfielder Matt McBride from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs to Nashville, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's transferred left-handed pitcher Felix Doubront to the 60-day disabled list.
McBride was batting .188 with a home run and three RBI in 11 games with Nashville. He also walked five times for a .297 on-base percentage. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter appeared in seven games at catcher and three in right field. McBride signed a minor league contract with the A's Dec. 24, 2015 and was a non-roster invitee this spring, batting .118 in 17 games. He made his Major League debut with Colorado in 2012 and is a .199 career hitter with four home runs and 17 RBI in 72 games in the majors over three seasons with the Rockies (2012, 14-15).
Triggs was recalled from Nashville on Monday and made his Major League debut that night at Detroit. He retired the side in order in the ninth inning and struck out the first batter he faced, Tyler Collins. The 27-year-old right-hander was 2-1 with a 5.14 ERA and .214 opponents batting average in six relief appearances with Nashville.
Doubront was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 4 and underwent UCL reconstruction surgery on April 12.
